Javier Loarte received a BFA in Psychology and worked at a rehabilitation center, but one day he saw a Federico Fellini movie. 

After participating in the Berlinale Talent Campus, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study at Columbia University, where he graduated with an MFA in Film in May 2015. 

His films have screened in more than a hundred film festivals, including Telluride, Montreal, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs and at museums of contemporary art, including the Pompidou Centre and the Tate Modern, as well as on television.

He taught Screenwriting at Columbia University and worked as a filmmaker for the 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign.

Today he is preparing his debut feature, Before Elvis.
